In the midsummer of July, when the sky was slightly bright, the livestreaming anchors began to sell local specialty agricultural products such as Xiangxi Smoked Bacon, Xiangxi Golden Tea, Miao Sour Fish and Meat, kiwifruit and morel mushrooms at Changtuo Village, Jishou City, Xiangxi Prefecture.
“Many young anchors want to start a business, but they have no platforms, so I built one,” said Wang Xiaoyan, head of Xiangxi Cunhuajie Culture Media Co., Ltd. She located the base in Changtuo Village, a few minutes’ drive from the city, where the traditional wooden houses are well preserved. She chose a wooden house and decorated it into a livestreaming room named “Cunhua Courtyard”.
Wang Xiaoyan, who has more than 200,000 fans, is an “Internet celebrity” herself. “Through livestreaming, the vast number of young people, especially rural women, can get a job and increase income,” said Wang Xiaoyan. They promote the culture of their hometown while selling goods, and have cultivated more than 150 well-known livestreaming anchors.
Wang Xiaoyan’s new goal is to establish a Xiangxi Cunhua Livestreaming Anchor Incubation Base centered on the “Cunhua Courtyard”, and build a Cunhua livestreaming room to sell high-quality agricultural products in each village.
At present, hundreds of livestreaming training courses has been held to help anchors systematically master the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of livestreaming, and more than 3,000 people have participated in the training. In February this year, the “Cunhua Courtyard” was awarded the title of the Youth E-commerce Anchor Incubation Base in Jishou City.
“We not only promote the cultural tourism products in our hometown, but also inform public welfare activities,” the young anchor Peng Nanzi said. In June, they helped villagers in Guanhou Village, Jishou City, to sell slow-selling potatoes through livestreaming. In July, they released flood relief videos of Baojing and Guzhang counties, and united social forces to donate disaster relief materials.
Nowadays, the “Cunhua Courtyard” has scaled up, and the 8 wooden houses in the village have been renovated, attracting 38 local Internet-famous livestreaming anchors to settle in. Young anchors from neighboring counties around Jishou City have come to “learn from experiences”, in the hope of mastering the livestreaming skills.
